Goldeneye formerly Petya Ransomware is a new strain of malware that can initially infect your files and infects the hard drive subsequently. It potentially forces to pay a double ransom. This ransomware spreads in the form of fake job application email with a .pdf attachment. This .pdf points the victim to an infected Excel file. After the encryption of your files, the machine reboots and will show like its doing a file system repair. By this process, they are actually encrypting the MFT. Once you pay the ransom to decrypt the MFT, you will be asked to pay more ransom to decrypt the files.
